Features:
1. AD8495 Type K thermocouple amplifier. These amplifiers convert the small voltage generated by the thermocouple junction into an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) or a signal that the microcontroller can easily read. The gain from the thermocouple to the amplifier output is approximately 5 mV/°C.
2. The AD8495 performs cold junction compensation using an on-chip temperature sensor. Thermocouples provide accurate measurements over a wide range of ambient temperatures.
3. The AD8495 contains a high precision instrumentation amplifier. The amplifier has high common-mode rejection and rejects common-mode noise that long-wire thermocouples may pick up. For extra protection, the amplifier's high-impedance input allows for easy additional filtering.
4. The AD8495 supports a wide supply voltage range. With a single 5V supply, the AD849x can cover a thermocouple temperature range of nearly 1000 degrees. It can interface directly to a low supply voltage ADC from a 3V supply. It can also be powered from up to ±18V to support industrial systems that require a wide common-mode input range.
5. Regardless of the power rail used, the AD8495 can easily measure negative temperatures. The 0°C output can be adjusted with the voltage on the reference pin, which provides flexibility in adapting the AD849x output range to accommodate the ADC.
6. Stable input design can handle a variety of actual connection conditions. The CJMCU-8495 can withstand input voltages well above the power rail. For example, with a ±5 V supply, the voltage at the input, even to ±35 V, is guaranteed to not damage the device. The minimum and maximum input bias current characteristics facilitate thermocouple open circuit fault detection.
